In the sixth JHPOR issue we present the problems of drug market from the perspective of the public payer. The article “Polish Experience in Financial Management of Medicines Market by Public Payer” by Artur Fałek et al. shows a comparative analysis of the reimbursement system before and after the introduction in 2011 of the Reimbursement Act. An interesting addition to this paper is an article presenting HTA Agency recommendations in 2012 by Marcin Czech et al.
One of the important topics nowadays in the scientific community is the Ebola virus infection. This infection creates a potential death risk and is a significant public health problem throughout the world. Currently there are many ongoing scientific research projects on different ways to prevent and treat Ebola infections. Tadeusz Płusa wrote a short overview article covering this topic.
An issue, that is currently discussed in Poland, is the treatment of HCV infection. New drugs against HCV infection are an economic challenge for many health care systems, including the Polish one. Władysiuk et al. in their article discuss current epidemiological trends of HCV and its socio-economic burden in Poland.
It is worth noting the introduction of a new Drug Program, covering adult patients with primary immunodeficiencies. Ewa Więsik-Szewczyk presented this topic in her article "Current treatment options with immunoglobulin G for adult patients with primary immunodeficiency disease in Poland".
In this issue you will also find many other interesting articles.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite you to the second JHPOR conference covering the topic of the patient registries. The conference will be held on 19th of March 2015 at the Hotel Radisson Blu Sobieski in Warsaw.
We wish you a pleasant reading of our journal.
